I am currently in Ubud (central Bali) where I am spending some time resting, enjoying this hippy/artist community. I've experienced a Balinese Traditional dance performance called Legong of Mahabharata. It's unlike anything I've ever seen before, they use intricate finger movements, complicated footwork, and expressive gestures and facial expressions to portray their story. I decided to tap into my artistic side, where I took a jewelery making class at Studio Perak. I designed a small silver necklace pendant. Yesterday, I partook in an Indonesian cooking class. I took the class as Casa Luna. Casa Luna is the restaurant from the book Fragrant Rice I read a few weeks ago. The class included a walking tour of the local market explaining all the different types of ingredients used in Balinese recipes.
